Run workspace tabs in separate threads, don't block GUI during Update/Switch

During a lengthy operation (Update/Switch), I would like to be able to continue working on another of my workspace tabs. As it is, the Update/Switch dialog is modal and I have to wait for the operation to finish before I can switch tabs.

Yep, that's correct, and that's what we do on Linux and Mac already, even on Gluon.

The goal is to bring it to Windows soon :-)
