  1. Automatic update of the client in background. (à la Chrome)

    The client should automatically update itself. The update shall be downloaded in background and automatically be applied during next start-up.

  2. Replicating branch renames

    When I am working distributed I am often without connection to our issue tracker. This means that I have to use a temporary naming scheme for new branches. When I later sync with the main repository I may not have created the issues in the tracker yet. When I do, I have to rename all branches in all replications which is easily forgotten, thus leaving the different replications with differently named branches.

    Obviously this is a mess, so it would be really nice, if Plastic synchronized branch name changes. If there is a rename conflict, I would be fine if…

  3. Whole view synchronization

    We have started to use writable xlinks in most projects. To replicate a project we create sync views that contains targets for all xlinked projects.
    However, I cannot find a way to synchronize a whole view. I have to refresh each target, right click and synchronize, wait until synchronizing finish, repeat for all targets.

    Preferably syncing multiple repositories would be a one-click affair, but the current procedure is tedious and easily error prone.

    The common scenario for me is this: I make a few changes on my laptop while commuting. At work I sync the laptop with the main repository…

  4. Pending changes: display as tree

    Display the items as tree in the pending changes tab. If I have lots of changes Its difficult to find single files...

  5. Improve file move detection (compare only same extensions)

    The "file move detection" should only compare files with same extension. It's not useful to compare "a.gif" with "b.jpg" and display "moved from a.gif to b.jpg" with a similatity of 90%.
    File extensions do normally not change (maybe only in some cases).

    Diff window: Change the color (make it configurable) of the "changed lines" indicator at the very right. Light blue color on a light gray background is very hard to see...

  7. Show repo in check-in dialog

    A couple of times I had problems with multi project solutions that i was about to check-in files into the wrong repository.

    Therefor, Could you add the name of the repository to the check-in dialog so it's easier to determine which repo is used?

  8. Add a list of files to be kept R/W

    When working in the mode that uses the Read-Only attribute as flag for check-in I would like to have an option (a read-write files list like the cloacked list) of files that should be kept R/W after checkin.

    Some developer tools like VS and Borland Delphi have files that are hard to find in the project managers but need to be writeable for correct operations (there are some in VS2K10's installer projects and some of the Delphi project files like the *.dsk files are best kept R/W)

  9. Visual Studio 2010 hangs 1-5 sec after trying to save a file change

    All 4.1.10.X versions do the same. A few seconds after a file which was not checked out is saved looks like Plastic tries to checkout the file asynchronously and locks up Visual Studio.

    This happens 10 out of 10 times with me.

    Fixed. The fix will be available in the next Plastic SCM release, that will be published along this week (two or three days).

  12. close merge tab after processing the merge

    After doing a merge in the GUI, the tab that was opened to handle the merge is left open, but empty. After doing 3 or 4 merges, you often have a bunch of empty and useless tabs left open on the UI.

    If the tab could automatically close after the merge has been successfully processed, it would make the GUI a lot cleaner.

  13. In the "Branches" view one can set new attributes, but NOT in the Branch Explorer. This point is missing.

    Click on "Branches".
    Add a new attribute to a branch.
    Switch to the Branch Explorer.
    There is no "Attributes" tab. :(

  14. Detect OutOfDate files

    When open a file (max, jpg, bmp, ...) it would be great to detect if the user has the Lattest version. If not a window could PopUp and ask if we want to update the file or not. That way everyone will work on the lattest version for sure

  15. Enhace the diff dialogue to have a context menu to revert files

    The diff dialogue needs a context menu to revert files. Because otherwise you merge and then you have to go through the item view to try and track down the files, kind of painful.

  16. Support partial Xlinks

    Right now it's only possible to include a whole repository via Xlinks. It would be nice if additionally a path could be specified. This would make it much easier to work with different versions, because only the path to the version and not a changeset needs to be entered..

  17. A commandline option to get repository to database (table) mapping.

    Hi,

    I would like to be able to get the mapping of repositories on the databse (or tables) without opering the repositories.plastic.sdf database.

    This database however only contains the still present repositories.

    I found no way (yet) to detemine where the workspace name of a delete repository database.

  18. The toolbar with workspaces does not work for large amounts of workspaces

    The toolbar on top of the client becomes unsable when you have 20+ workpaces (as proposed in the one workspace per project/component).

    Maybe for keywords (as proposed in Group workspaces (and repositories) it would work again for a while.

  19. Allow the user to override the OS default for opening various file types

    At present it will use whatever the OS default is, it would be nice to be able to custimize this within Plastic, e.g. a simple table of file extension versus application (don't forget to allow for files with no extension, e.g. INSTALL, README, etc). This would make life easier fot instances where no defaul is even set (e.g. my Linux VM), and also cases where by default I want to edit files in Plastic but run them in my OS (e.g. script files).

  20. Give the user the ability to close a workspace tab

    Allow the user to close a workspace tab, without it being removed from the All Workspaces list. Should then be able to re-open the workspace from the All Workspaces list.
