  1. Sometimes when you modify a file and then rename it, Plastic SCM is unable to match the original file with the renamed one. In that case you can use the ‘Search matches’ tool to select the file that matches the original one. However, It is not always possible, because the minimum similarity level that you can set when searching is 50%.

Imagine you add a comment to a small file that contains only a definition of an enumerable and then rename the file. Because it is small, the comment becomes a major part of the file and the similarity to…

    Hello,

we have changed the Search Matches form to remove the minimum similarity level. Moreover, we have changed the matching algorithm so that changes in indentation are not taken into account.

These new features can be found since version 5.0.44.566 of PlasticSCM.

  2. It is good that now we can navigate through changed/conflicting blocks using arrows even though there is only one changed/conflicting block. However when there is no changed/conflicting block those arrow are just confusing. I suggest to disable them when there is nothing they can navigate to.

  4. In the UI and on the command line, when you view history on an individual item, there is a space for comments, but no comments are shown. Having these would be nice

  6. We have a lot of repositories and I find myself often trying to create a new Workspace from the Repositories list.

  7. I can close it, but it appears again next time I open a file. This is really enoying, I don't need it for most files. I want to keep it closed by default.

  8. Support the ability to use the attributes for hiding/showing selective branches/objects (not only color them).
Like: show all BUG branches, or Show only Release branches.... etc.

At some point, the Branch Explorer becomes too loaded with information and it is hard to manage.
Marking colors is not enough, hiding or showing only selective ones per a rule will increase clarity.

  9. A Merge To operation perform a merge (as a classic Merge From operation) and moreover a check-in. However, no check-in trigger is fired. Please add this functionality. It is important, because without this, any custom system relying on the check-in triggers has this hole.

  10. We find the current comment box to be a little confusing.

Our of our guys didn't event realize it was a text box!

I think this interface (from a popular git client) is a lot clearer and encourages the user to write a good and descriptive comment.

  11. Currently, (in "centralized mode") if a server cannot be contacted, the plastic client GUI won't open, even if there are multiple profiles, and another server IS contactable. This appears to depend on the last active workspace - if the last active workspace belongs to the server that is down, the tool can't be opened.

It would be extremely beneficial to be able to open the tool, and select a different workspace weather the current server is available or not - perhaps show those workspace(s) as greyed out or non-available, disable or close the tabs

  12. One of the main advantages of PlasticSCM is in the number of steps required to accomplish a task. To leverage this further, I would suggest the following:
    1. Allow the user to customize the order of commands in the right-click menu, or learn the ones he uses most and position it at the top.
    2. Allow the user to add commands in the menu, either ones which are already supported in other contexts or NEW ones, customized by the user to perform/run a specific script (at the client or the server).

I think this will open up great possibilities beyond…

    Hi!

We’re happy to inform you that Plastic SCM now supports adding custom menu entries for many of its views. This new entries will run a command related to the currently selected object. To find out how this works and its many possibilities, please go to the corresponding release notes page: https://www.plasticscm.com/download/releasenotes/6.0.16.1486

Thank you all for your great feedback and support!

    Regards,
    Miguel

  13. The historical analysis where a file has changed is not really complete withouth displaying merges. Now if a file is changed is sub-branch and merged back to its pareent branch at some point, this is not visualized in any way. More on this

  14. Being a revision control system, a very frequent operation is doing diffs between revisions. As such, a shortcut key would be very convenient for this function. When I have two revisions highlighted or two changesets highlighted, how about a Ctrl+F or Ctrl+D to get there.

And while you're at it, anything else that does not have a shortcut key needs one. Don't want to be reaching for the mouse all the time.

  16. We're going to implement a new feature to move checkouts to a new branch.

Sometimes, you start working in the main branch, and you want to create a new branch with those changes.

The idea is creating a submenu in the checkin button (in the pending changes view) with the text says "Checkin to a new branch". A dialog will be appear to create a branch and then, the checkin will be done to the new branch. Of course, the workspace will be switched to that branch.

Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated

  17. This info is missing from both the label list and the trigger.

The only way to get the branch name from a label is to perform a two step operation: Check on which changeset it is set and then look for that changeset branch (in the changeset list).

  19. You already got the posibility to hide branches - and that's working very well. The ugly thing is: when a child branch of an invisible branch is created this one pops up in the branch explorer even though the parent branch is hidden. Newly created child branches should automatically be hidden by default.

  20. When I create a new branch, I would like to automatically switch to that branch. If not automatic, another possibility is a dialog box asking to if I would like to switch to the new branch.
