  1. Right now if one user performs a checkout on a file there is no way for other users to see that without attempting to checkout the same file.

This primarily matters for files set to exclusive checkout, as files are not locked from local changes. If each file's checkout state was visible in the client automatically, fewer mistakes would occur where changes need to be undone or moved to a new file

The attached photo is the only feedback from the client on file checkout state currently

  2. If everything goes well, and my push of changes to the cloud server doens't have any issues, the "Replication synchronization" window should close itself. It's annoying to have to click "Close" every time I push

  4. After marking multiple files and choosing Undo, the warning message only states that "You are going to undo X changes". This helps catch issues of undoing significantly more or less files than you intended, but doesn't help if a single critical file was accidentally included in the list of files to undo.

I'd suggest listing the full path of all of the files that are going to be affected by the undo command on that warning message.

  5. Currently the "Search files" query on the "Explore workspace" tab treats queries with multiple words separated by a space as if they were one element.

So a search for (without quotes) "wall normal" would not find
    SteelWallNormal.png nor
    shortwall
    normal.png
    etc.
but it currently would find things like
    SteelWall Normal.png or
    shortwall normal.png

I suggest treating words separated by spaces as multiple elements that must all exist in the filename, which would result in returning all of the examples above.

  6. I'd like to be able to have the option to display deleted files in the "Explore workspace" tab in Gluon.

This would greatly simplify viewing the changeset history of deleted files by supporting the same details panel workflow that is currently used for non-deleted files.

  7. Currently, "out of date" is only displayed at the file level in the "Explore workspace" tab. This presupposes that you know what files are out of date, as viewing the root or any of the folders in between the root and the out of date file will look the same as if there was nothing out of date in them.

To be able to track what files are out of date in a workspace, it would be nice to see the out of date indicator all the way down.

    Ex.

    root (out of date)
    Content (out of date)
    __
    Images…

  8. I almost always use multiple line comments on my submissions, and so do several other people in my studio. I usually mouse over the changeset in the "Changesets" tab to see the full comment, but the current display duration for the full comment overlay is often too short to read the entire comment.

I'd suggest the duration be increased significantly or that as long as the cursor remains over the changeset it be displayed indefinitely.

  9. This has been fixed in standard Plastic, but Gluon still does not support mouse wheel scrolling while hovering over the comment box in the "Checkin changes" tab, with or without the cursor being in that box

  10. Firstly, we use the Jira integration in plastic so I only have experience in this area. I assume the same concepts apply to other trackers but I can only speak from my experience with Jira

Recently, we moved from using a number of xlinked repositories to using a MonoRepo in Plastic. It's no surprise that plastic already has good support for the MonoRepo approach.

One area we have found that is lagging a little behind is the issue tracker integration though.

Currently, the relationship for the Jira integration in plastic assumes a mapping of 1 to 1 for a repository…

  11. If I have a tga file selected in Gluon, I just see the windows file icon for it instead of a preview of the image. Other file types, such as png show a preview of the image when selected.

Targa is a common file format used for video game textures

  12. Currently we were unable to move many of our repo to plastic because they all uses LFS.
We could, by copying files from git "workspace" directly into the checkout workspace, overwrite those pointer files, do a checkin and get thoses files info plastic's repo.
But that will break many of our parterner's workflow, since they still uses git, and we obviously can't force them all to use plastic.

  14. When you sync and pull a branch from the repository from the cloud, you have to manually open the Workspace Explorer and then press Update Workspace button to update the files to the newest changeset. Our productivity would improve if the workspace files would be updated immediately upon sync and pull.

  15. Add localization support to Plastic SCM / Documentation for Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

If possible, also translate your website into the above mentioned languages.

Game dev companies in Asia use Perforce. If you translate your product and site, they may see a reason to switch.

  17. When renaming a repository, workspaces created from this repository break. It would be handy if they would automatically retarget to the new name.
Additionally, renaming a repository will also break with trigger filters, it would also be handy if they would automatically retarget :)

  19. I know this goes against the branch per task ideology, but sometimes people work on a bunch of stuff in a branch and then merge a larger chunk of work, e.g. a bunch of helper functions etc.

It would be nice if there was a way in the GUI to automatically gather all checkin comments since last merge / branch creation into the merge comment. I could then edit this comment before merging.

So for example if I make checkins "fix foo" and "fix bar", my merge comment would be "fix foo\nfix bar".

  20. This happens all the time. You do some modifications, hit checkin, get told you need to merge beforehand, you do that and it's all automatic and nice and then you hit checkin again and notice the comments are gone.

The comments are of course in the history, but I have had to edit them exactly 0 times after the merge. Would be a nicer user experience if the comment was kept there by default (or at least have an option for doing so).
