  1. When you try to save a modified in memory read-only file in VS with PlasticSCM set as current version control plugin, VS will show you a Save As dialog instead of asking you to overwrite file or discard your changes as it normally does (without PlasticSCM plugin).

    Hi everyone!

We’re really happy to announce that our TeamCity plugin now has feature branches support since release 5.4.16.783 (https://www.plasticscm.com/download/releasenotes/5.4.16.783). We encourage you to download the new plugin version and install it in your TeamCity servers to take advantage of this new feature.

There are some things you should keep in mind before the upgrade:

    • Existing projects configured with Plastic SCM VCS roots will need to be reconfigured.
    • There’s an issue involving the diff of moved + changed files due to limitations on TeamCity API, pending to be adressed.
    • Server-side workspaces are no longer needed, so you’ll be able to safely remove them.

    Thank you for your feedback!

  3. Add the possibility to synchronize with GIT using an RSA-Key. Now you have to enter username and password for the GIT repository.

  4. It would be nice to be able to create a code review via the command line interface. This would allow us to use the after-checkin trigger to create and assign a code review, automatically.

I did research this, so if this functionality already exists, I apologize.

  6. It would be great to have the possibility to just install the plasticscm commandline on Linux systems (e.g. apt-get plastic-cm). This would make it much easier to get this great source code management system more tolerated by old-fashioned GIT fans.

  7. In the VS plugin it is possible to shelve changes from the commit window by committing them to a shelf instead of to the current branch. Once this happens, however, there is no way to get them back(Through the plugin I mean) because the shelves tab is not available.

You can recover the shelved changes by opening the regular Plastic GUI, but this shouldn't be necessary.

  8. It would be useful if the defined filters had checkboxes to quickly enable/disable them so you can have different settings in different views and some common filters defined.

This feature doesn't seem to work well with show 'selected branches in a new diagram'. Should inclusions and 'add child/parent branches' only consider branches that would otherwise visible? ie. all in the default explorer, but not add in new ones in the custom one?

  11. Powershell is growing and Windows is ensuring that admin will eventually learn Powershell (sort of Object-Oriented-Shell in Windows)

It might be wise to prepare for providing powershell-native modules as midterm strategy.

  12. It would be very useful to see the current branch name in the Visual Studio title and therefore in the taskbar too.
I am aware of a "Workspace working info" view but it does not help much to find a proper window quickly when I have opened multiple versions (branches) of one solution.

  14. Sometimes when a file is moved or renamed the pending changes view doesn't track this change as move operation, but as delete and add. It would be great if the user could tell plastic that this should be handled as a move.

You may add such an option to the context menu while one deleted and one added file are selected. It's your choise.

  15. Currently, git-sync allows a plastic client to sync with git. However, it would be handy if git could clone a repository on a plastic server. THis wqould allow integration with products that integrate with git (such as FishEye).

  16. During heavy-duty work on a set of objects, it would be nice to have a button in Pending changes which will Checkin all Pending and automatically re-Checkout the same objects. This will speed up development. Sometimes many disparate objects are being updated and if they reside in different folders, doing interim checkins (for safety's sake) requires going through the folders and checking out those objects one at a time. It would just be better to be able to checkin several objects and have them checked out, again, automatically.

  17. PlasticSCM should provide a plugin for Jira 6. This plugin should provide a TAB on the 'View Issue' screen in Jira. This Tab should contain the Custom Field "PlasticSCM", which gets linked to PlasticSCM client

  18. I would recommend you provide instructions for:

Meld,Beyond Compare, DiffMerge, KDiff3 but I will leave you to determine and others to determine what is appropriate.

Atlassian SourceTree has build in options for:
AraxisMerge, Beyond Compare, DiffMerge, KDiff3, P4Merge, TortoiseMerge

  19. As used in SemanticMerge the build in Text Merge tool does not have keyboard shortcuts. This makes it frustrating when you can use hotkeys for SemanticMerge but not for the external tool provided with SemanticMerge.

In the current version of PlasticSCM, the merge tool has the following shortcuts:

    • Select/Unselect source: Ctrl+1
    • Select/Unselect base: Ctrl+2
    • Select/Unselect destination: Ctrl+3
    • First conflict: Ctrl + Shift + -
    • First conflict: Ctrl + -
    • Next conflict: Ctrl + +
    • Last conflict: Ctrl + Shift + +
    • Previous non-automatic conflict: Ctrl+PageUp
    • Next non-automatic conflict: Ctrl+PageDown
  20. Automatic merge fails in the following situation:

For a particular source code line on separate branches:

    1) add a new line before or after it
    2) modify the line

When rebasing one of the branches from the other this fails, apparently because the new line is grouped with the other in the diff tool. If they were considered separately it should be a trivial automatic merge.

An alternative would be to make the manual resolution easier by providing a mechanism to split the merge block so each line can be selected separately (source/base/dest). I think xxdiff has this capability. Currently…
