  1. In the Plastic GUI, "Add format" provides the following options:

    • Branches with pending merges
    • Active branch in this workspace
    • Custom branch query rule
    • Custom changeset query rule
    • Custom label query rule

cm find, however, supports additional objects beyond "branch", "changeset", and "query". I would like to highlight changesets that contain merge-links from a specific branch, but currently the only way for me to do that is to run the query in the command-line, use the query results to apply attributes, and then use the attributes for a rule that colors the changeset. It would be more straightforward if I could…

  2. When adding a new xlink to a project, you must select a target changeset to track on the linked repository. When you open the dialog box, the default search query is this:

find changeset where date > '5/27/2020' on repository '<repo_name>@<server_name>:<port>

    (today is 6/26/2020)

For some reason it always defaults to only show changesets from less than 1 month in the past. Seeing as xlink is primarily used for reusable, modular code, this means there is almost never any changesets shown. So in order to find the latest changeset you have to click "Advanced" and remove the date clause manually.

  3. I wish there was a way to put aliases on the User list. Email addresses are often obtuse, and I can't remember whether "Albert Smith" is "CaptainStatic@gmail.com" or "LordOfNoise69@gmail.com".

Let me attach a note so I can reliably remove people once they leave my team and keep my access permissions secure.

  4. Dark mode is especially popular among devs, this would be a great QoL feature to have.

  5. Right now if you switch it to view EOL changes it will just highlight the entire line Red, which isn't very obvious that all I did was switch the line endings. I think the diff window should have the line ending type shown in plain text. It can be subtle like dark text next to the changeset description.
A decent reference for this is the tool "Beyond Compare" which shows the type of line endings towards the top

  6. Hi, it would be amazing for a type of "user confidentiality mode" to be possible where enabling it will hide all emails and names of contributors for privacy purposes.

I regularly show off my work and commit history in live streams and it would be helpful if it was possible to hide certain categories such as the "created by" category as I don't want to make my email public when showing, the unity GUI already has this as an option but the standalone client doesn't, to add to this the same would be nice to have if you could also…

  7. It would be wonderful to have a feature where you can specify inside Plastic when a branch is ready to be merged and the task is done!

I'm trying to use the Task Per Branch and it's kind of annoying ask the others about the status of a task or a group of tasks.

Something like "change the branch's background color" to set it as a ended task.

You could expand this idea and integrate your own Task Management System. :)

  11. Hi, please change the comments seperator from "" to something less frequently used. We have A LOT of files with a "" in the file name and refering to them in a comment isn't that easy when "_" is the seperator ;)

  12. Show a list of all files before you add them to the source control. sometimes i need to keep a file back for some reason and add it some time later.
Also the add tree to sc action is very opaque. it doesn't even create a new changeset!!! i never know which files i realy added.

  13. Right now the preferences for diff and merge for external tools has a help modal dialog that is difficult to work with. Building the command line is repetition of modify and click on the help to make sure things are being typed correctly.

Suggest that instead it's a drop down dialog that populates the variable into the edit box as selected.

  15. When different branches are selected, the custom extension task information is updated in the options pane. However, when changesets are selected, the pane doesn't update. It just leaves whatever information had been in there. Even if the changeset is on a different pane.

  16. It would be great if I could save a compairing to a file and view it later again.

Use case: I compaire to branches with a lot of changes. I will need some time to do this and want to do it later.

Or: I want to show a compair/diff to somebody.

  17. Is it possible to specify the name of the workspace that is created for a build configuration when using Plastic 5.x with TeamCity 8.x? Currently a workspace is dynamically created with the name tc### where the number actually correlates to the primary key of the vcsroot_instance stored in the TeamCity configuration. What this means is that every time we update the parameter for the build configuration that contains the name of the Plastic branch we wish to use, Plastic tries to create a new workspace. This is a problem because the same folder is being used and already…

  18. Azure Active Directory implementations offer an OAuth 2.0 Service endpoint for authorization. Being able to use this as an authentication option for the Plastic server could be a great addition to the product.

  19. diff view: Implement DRAG functionality on file paths of old and new files to be able to drag the files to another tool.

You have a copy to clipboard on right-click already so this is a trivial change for you.

Add another option to the right-click, or what-ever, to allow users to DRAG the old FILE (since you already have it in the tmp directory) to another application ( beyond compare, windows file explorer directory, etc).

Do the same for the new file side also.

This way users can set a diff of the files they want then EASILY get…
